Documenting Police Use of Force
Client: 7th Floor Productions
Documenting Police Use of Force, a FRONTLINE/AP documentary, delves deeply into the circumstances under which people died following encounters with police employing tactics like physical holds, tasers, or body blows—methods intended to subdue without fatality.
To illuminate this critical issue, an extensive graphics package featuring an array of animated materials was created, drawing from police records, autopsy reports, body-camera footage, and a comprehensive database documenting over 1,000 deaths. These visuals helped bring the story to life with clarity and purpose, enhancing the viewer's understanding of the complex and often controversial situations surrounding police use of force.
This work was created in collaboration with Phlea TV. The completed film can be seen on the PBS website.
