Visual Acoustics is a biographical documentary celebrating the life and career of Julius Schulman, considered one of the world's greatest architectural photographers. His incredible images became the impetus for an entire genre of photography and introduced the stunning beauty of modernist buildings to the American mainstream.

 

This two and a half minute open to the film takes the viewer on a visual journey, introducing some of the iconic work he produced. A singular camera move for the latter part of the sequence was a play on Schulman's journey as a photographer, carefully leading us from one image to the next. In addition to the animation, voiceovers offer us insight and set the tone, bringing us into Julius Schulman's fascinating world of Modernist architecture.
