Season 12 Graphics
Client: Art21

For the twelfth season of PBS’s Art in the Twenty-First Century, the goal was to create a visual system that captured the diversity, depth, and rhythm of contemporary art today.
The primary design element for the episodes centered around an expansive modular grid, a living framework that organized and interweaved imagery, texture, and motion. This grid became a stage that allowed elegant camera moves to guide the viewer through a rich canvas of visual content, while typographic reveals were used to punctuate moments of focus and transition. Composition, and rhythm all served a single goal: to honor the artists while crafting a cohesive identity for the series.
The full graphics package included a comprehensive style guide, openers, closers and transitions. In addition, bold, colorful trailer graphics and a suite of social media elements rounded out the season 12 deliverables.
